Hear ye, hear ye: The people of Leith have spoken!
Well folks, May has gone and June is here. That means it’s time to tally up the votes from our Best of Leith competition!
Competition Specs
Let’s take a quick look at the Best of Leith competition specs, starting with the total number of participating establishments in each of the three categories.
Coffee Shops: 18
Pub/Bars: 38
Restaurant/Cafes: 57

Many of you local Leithers have spoken… but how many? Take a gander. How many locals would you guess cast their votes in support of their favourite bites and sips around town? 100? 500? 1000? Try almost 1,300 on for size.
You heard right–nearly 1,300 votes were cast! Well, 1,272 to be exact…
And let me tell you, it was a close race in all three categories.
Each day throughout the month of May when the votes would come in, we were chewing our nails down to the quick as we watched several establishments run neck and neck to claim the top spot.
It was enthralling!
Anyhow, on to the big reveal—draw the curtains, hold your breath, and drum roll, please!

Congratulations all and very well done!
All 1st Place winning establishments will be presented with an official Best of Leith award and be featured on our blog. The owners and staff of each of the nine victorious establishments who medaled will receive a free lifetime subscription (£400 value) to our cross-platform app NEAR upon its public release.
All other owners and staff of participating establishments will receive a free, two-year premium subscription (£100 value) to the NEAR app.
All voting participants will receive a free, two-year premium subscription (£100 value) to the NEAR app.
All participants (voters of, or owners and staff of participating establishments) are eligible to receive up to three free vouchers for one-year premium subscriptions (£50 value, each) to the NEAR app that can be gifted to family members or friends.

As we mentioned in our previous post, we walked our legs off doing our best to personally invite as many local food/drink establishments as we could find here in Leith to participate in this competition.
That being said, if we somehow missed your establishment while on our marathon through the streets of Leith, we’d like to let you know it was not on purpose, and we’re sorry we missed you! Thank you to those of you who got word of the competition and reached out to let us know you’re here; we’re glad we were able to have you participate while the competition was still running.
